The need to make tax processes seamless has been brought to the fore once again with the latest initiative of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, kick-starting today, Monday 7th June 2021. The automated solution has been tagged, ‘TaxPro-Max’ to boost tax compliance, not losing the motive of adding ease to the system.
Contrary to the motive of driving ease into the system, a grey area that doubles as a source of worry with the new platform remain the need for taxpayers to generate a compulsory Document Identity Number, DIN on a visit to any physical outlets of FIRS. This to an extent has defeated the purpose of full automation.
These are the key highlights of the new platform
- The new Online Naira Tax-filing Platform called TaxPro-Max is effective from today, Monday 7th June 2021.
- According to the Chairman of the FIRS, Mr. Muhammad Nami, said “TaxPro-Max” enables seamless registration, filing, payment of taxes, and automatic credit of withholding tax as well as other credits to the taxpayers’ accounts, among other features.
- TaxPro-Max would become the channel for filing naira-denominated tax returns in the country.
- FIRS personnel will be on hand to assist taxpayers to upload tax returns and generate the DIN.

“All naira-denominated tax returns are to be filed via the TaxPro-Max Solution to generate the obligatory document identity number (DIN)”.
“Taxpayers will not be able to pay without DIN; as such taxpayers wanting to submit their tax returns manually must visit the relevant tax office where FIRS personnel will be on hand to assist them to upload the returns and generate the DIN.
“Given the time it might take to upload manual returns and generate the DIN, taxpayers are encouraged to bring manual returns for upload, at least, two weeks before the due date; qualified personnel of FIRS is on hand to assist taxpayers experiencing challenges in filing returns on the TaxPro-Max,”.
